Oscars 2015 will be streamed Live Online

The Oscars 2015 will be streamed live online and not just the TV show but also in-depth from the Oscars backstage.

The Oscars 2015 hosted by Neil Patrick Harris will air tonight on ABC starting at 7pm ET. ABC will stream the Academy Awards live online, but you need a cable or satellite provider account to access the stream here. Cord cutters are out of luck. NBC did the right thing when they removed the login requirement to watch the Super Bowl live online. ABC is not that forth coming to cord cutters. 

The Sling TV service is also not including ABC, so there is no legit way to watch the Oscars online. What is free to access is the elaborate Oscars Backstage coverage live stream on Facebook. 

Beginning at 7 p.m., ET/4 p.m., PT, a curated feed from The Oscars Backstage will be broadcasted live on Facebook. The program features live video feeds from over 20 cameras throughout the Dolby Theater. The stream will be on the ABC Network’s Facebook Page.

The Oscars Backstage online stream is also part of the Facebook Trending Oscars feature, which gives fans one place to connect in real time as they watch the night unfold.

“We’re excited to bring viewers backstage and provide exclusive access to all those memorable, talked-about Oscar moments – the ones that happen on stage as well as the stories that play out behind-the-scenes,” said Christina Kounelias, chief marketing officer, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Movie fans wil likely want to supplement the official TV broadcast of the Oscars with the backstage online stream. ABC said that 70% of views will be on their smartphone or tablet while watching the Oscars.

The 2015 Oscars will be broadcasted live on ABC starting at 7pm ET. ABC will also host live Oscars Backstage stream on Facebook starting at 7pm ET as well. The biggest award show in Hollywood is hosted this year by Neil Patrick Harris. Refer to the complete list of the 2015 Oscars Nominations.
