Google has signed a contract with Luxottica to make available its frames of prescription glasses like Rayban and Oakley for Google Glasses.

Google has paired up with Luxottica to make prescription glasses on the Rayban and Oakley platforms. These are especially aligned with Google Glass. Luxottica is an Italian company that specializes in fashion wear.

“We have agreed to join forces with Luxottica. The Luxottica Group is a leader in premium, luxury and sports eyewear with over 5,000 optical and sun retail stores in the US and has a strong, well-balanced brand portfolio that includes Ray-Ban, Oakley, Vogue-Eyewear, Persol, Oliver Peoples, Alain Mikli and Arnette'” states Google in a Google Glass G+ post.

The whole purpose of this exercise is to make Google’s wearable computer a common accessory in the world of style and fashion. The head of Luxottica spoke of how his firm took great pride in partnering with Google. He furthermore stated that technological changes had really made the world anew.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Google, and are proud to be once again setting the pace in the eyewear industry, as we have been, with more than 50 years of excellence.” Said Andrea Guerra, Chief Executive Officer of Luxottica Group.

The road-testing of Google Glass cost each developer approximately $1499. And the prescription frames for Google Glasses will reportedly cost $225. It means that the cost of Google’s prescription glass will be $1,724.Now with the glass frames about to undergo a radical change in design, the hopes of the consumers are high indeed. The new trend in wearable technology by Google will wow the crowd for sure.

“Luxottica has built an impressive history over the last 50 years designing, manufacturing and distributing some of the most successful and well-known brands in eyewear today.” Said Google Vice President and head of Google X Astro Teller. “We are thrilled to be partnering with them as we look to push Glass and the broader industry forward into the emerging smart eyewear market.”

The product that is to come out will blur the line between fashion, lifestyle and technology. The titanium collection will come in four colors and it will be the ideal eyewear with a computer fitted into its structure. The issues with Google Glass remain though.

The fact that anyone can take surreptitious photographs with this device is cause for concern. Then the problem of driving a car with the glasses on is another big hurdle in the way of adopting them. But ultimately ways will be found of avoiding these pitfalls and perfecting the wearable technology so that it acquires qualities closer to the heart’s desire.

Google Glass is among the list of latest moon-shot ventures by Google. The driverless car and balloons providing Internet facility in remote regions are other such wild schemes that the big company is working on currently. Ultimately, the pact signed with Luxottica will allow Google to fully utilize the valuable resources of Oakley and Rayban. And thus its job will have been made easier.

Google has shown different types of frame styles for both glasses and sunglasses at its Google Glass G+ page. Four different types of Google Glasses are also shown on its Glass home page. But there is not purchase link still available. “You’re not going to see Glass on your favorite Oakleys or Ray-Bans tomorrow, but today marks the start of a new chapter in Glass’s design. Excited? Because we definitely are,” states Google at the end of G+ post.
