Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams had a rainy day. All three of them faced defeat at Wimbledon 2014.
While Maria Sharapova was a teenager when she won her first trophy in tennis and so was Rafael Nadal, they were both losers this time around on the clay court.
The former was a Wimbledon champion whereas the latter is a French Open winner. But recently Rafael lost to 19-year-old Nick Kyrgios who is an Aussie.
“Everything is a little bit easier when you are arriving,” Nadal said after his defeat. “Everything is new, nothing to lose.”

And Maria Sharapova was thrashed thoroughly by the German, Angelique Kerber. And as for Serena Williams, there was something wrong with her delivery and interception right from the start.
She was another loser along with the two. Kyrgios simply erupted like a volcano on the court. He held sway and delivered smashing shot after smashing shot till he had Nadal in a corner.
The thunder from down under had never been in a Wimbledon match before but he sure showed everybody what he was capable of.
“The thing is, this surface — when you have an opponent that he decides to serve and hit every ball very strong, you are in trouble,” said Nadal.
Kyrgios has described himself as a pretty normal kid and he loves to play on his Xbox in his free time. He even did a little dance for his fans, friends and family after winning the match.
“I tried. I lost,” Nadal said. “That’s easiest way to explain that. I lost. Is not a drama. Is nothing strange. I lost in four sets, having my chances, only losing one serve.”

John McEnroe, the bad boy and angry young man of tennis, was present and he commented by saying that he thought they had found their new guy.
“We keep saying, ‘Who’s the next guy?’ ” McEnroe said. “I think we found that guy.”
Sharapova meanwhile spoke of how such things happened and you could not do anything about them except comment and that too was just a bunch of words.
“It happens,” Sharapova said. “Just because you come in as a favorite doesn’t mean that you are guaranteed to hold the trophy at the end of the two weeks,” Sharapova said. “At the end of the day, those are just words.”
On the other hand, Serena was sick from the start. She had a bad case of a viral illness and had to have medical aid somewhere after the third round. Her blood pressure was checked too.
“I am heartbroken I’m not able to continue in the tournament,” Serena said in a statement. “I thought I could rally this morning because I really wanted to compete, but this bug just got the best of me.”
She later on said she was very sad due to having contracted a virus and had thought she could complete the series. But such is not to be due to her malady. The ailment Serena Williams has /4/take a while to leave her system.
“I thought I could rally this morning, because I really wanted to compete, but this bug just got the best of me,” Williams said.
“Unfortunately, Serena has been feeling unwell for the past few days and she just couldn’t play to her potential today,” Venus said. “I’m really proud of her for trying because we just love playing doubles together.”

“We were all looking forward to a great match. From the bottom of my heart, I thank all of the fans for their cheers and understanding,” said Serena. “I look forward to returning to Wimbledon next year.”
