Religious Leaders Converge to Hold Interfaith Service in Honor of Kansas Shooting Victims

Religious leaders gather at a Community Center to mark the first interfaith service for Overland Park, Kansas shooting victims. So far, one person is under custody pending more investigations.

In less than a week since the shooting incident occurred at a Kansas Jewish Community Center, calls for peace have been honored. This is in contrary to what authorities had referred the scene as a hate crime. The Kansas shooting took place on Sunday where three people were killed. The event actually turned to be a setting for tears, prayers and calls for peace to prevail. A good number of religious leaders gathered at the Center as a sign of honoring the shooting victims. What an incredible move by religious leaders and other relevant authorities for the event?

In the occasion, there was heavy security deployed to take their rightful role of safeguarding the entire Jewish Community Center. The center is situated in suburban Overland Park, Kansas where two of the shooting victims were reported to be gunned down on the spot. Several other casualties sustained various injuries. This event saw several hundred people attending into the center’s auditorium for purposes of conducting an interfaith service. According to REUTERS, Jewish Community Center president came out to call for togetherness and present the tragedy to God. Jacob Schreiber also called for peace, love and harmony to the bereaved families.

Jacob is Jewish Community Center’s president and chief executive, and was speaking to a huge gathering to mark the first interfaith service for Kansas shooting victims. In bringing those responsible to book, Frazier Glenn Cross is being held on $10 million bond. The 73-year-old avowed supremacist Glenn Miller is on a charge of capital murder and premeditated first-degree murder. Frazier is said to have taken a hand to killings that happened on the eve of the Jewish Passover holiday. For the Sunday shootings, Glenn remains to be a probable suspect pending investigations. 

Further, federal prosecutors have laid a plan of filing federal hate crime charges against Frazier Glenn Cross. The suspect is well known by law enforcement as a senior member of the so-called white supremacy movement. This does not end here as Cross is taken to be someone who had made repeated threats to Jewish people. With these claims, Cross stands out to be number-one suspect who might have planned or taken part in Kansas killings. In lining-up more evidence against Glenn, U.S’s Attorney General Eric Holder came out to retrieve some of the crimes committed by Glenn.

Frazier Glenn murdered Reat Underwood, 14, and his grandfather William Corporon who was 69-years old. The two victims were shot dead in the head in a parking lot right in front of the Jewish Community Center. Reat Underwood was preparing to audition ahead of a singing competition that is held annually as part of a community fundraiser. The third shooting victim, Terri LaManno is said to be 53-years old and an occupational therapist. Terri met his dead nine minutes later at a Jewish retirement home. The home is a mile away from the Community Center and Terri was heading her mother’s visit.
