Robert Downey Jr. turns 50 Today: Happy Birthday Iron Man!

Happy Birthday to the multitalented actor Robert Downey Jr.! Downey Jr. known famously for his role as Iron Man in the Marvel universe will be celebrating his golden jubilee today on planet earth. Downey made his first film debut when he was 5 years old in the film Pound written and directed by his own father Downey Sr. 

Robert Downey Jr. was born today on the 4th of April in 1965 to parents Robert Downey Sr. and Elise Ann in New York City. Downey Jr.’s life has been a whirlwind and he spent most of the 90’s in and out of jail and rehab. Downey Sr. allegedly introduced his 9 year old son to pot as a way of bonding.

Downey Jr.’s friends call him Bob and as a kid he used to be friends with Moby. Downey Jr. dropped out of high school at the age of 17 to pursue an acting career. Downey Jr. married twice and has two sons, one from each marriage. 

Robert Downey Jr. has been a bona fide Hollywood alum for the last four decades and has had his own share of fame. The actor became a critic’s favourite for his drama roles in the 90’s. However the superstardom role for the actor came in the form of Iron Man, the super suit wearing Billionaire/ playboy/superhero.

The actor then went on to top the Forbes list of highest paid male actors. Other than having released Iron Man 3 recently Downey Jr.’s most recent works include hits such as Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Avengers, and The Judge. The actor has worked with a multitude of other actors both male and female and his acting and looks seem to be keeping on getting better with age.
