Robin William’s Son Zak speaks about the Great Loss

Robin William’s elder son stated that family is is trying to cope with his loss.

Zak Williams speaking to ‘People’ about adjusting to life without his famous comedian dad said that the death of his dad is a great loss for him and that he is trying to stay strong. This was before a tribute to his father the Oscar winning actor Robin Williams

On Thursday at the annual Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation gala, William’s elder son said that he wanted people to know that the family is doing fine. He was paying tribute to the friendship between his dad and the late ‘Superman’ actor. Zak William’s also explained that healing is a long process and it definitely takes time but the family has got support from great people who are helping the family get through this great loss. 

The evening which was intended to celebrate the outstanding progress made by the foundation, which advocates for people living with spinal cord injuries, Matthew Reeve announced a huge breakthrough in spinal cord injury treatment. Matthew is the eldest son of the late actor Christopher Reeve.

Alexandra Reeve Givens, the actor’s only daughter also stated that it would not be appropriate if we do not acknowledge the contribution of others, who are not with us anymore such as director Mike Nichols, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robin William’s.

All of them have been active supporters of the foundation and its cause. Will Reeve the 22 year old son of Christopher explained that William’s was just like a family member and has stayed with us since a very long time. He also said that he and his dad always made each other laugh and stood by each other to the end. 

Robin and Christopher’s friendship dates back to their days as roommates at Julliard. Zak explained that this friendship grew over time and grew even stronger when in 1995 his father fell off from a horse that left him a quadriplegic. 

The wonderful evening was hosted by Meredith Vieira and also included performances by Rufus Wainwright and Alexa Ray Joel. The evening also praised and recognized other people with paralysis which included Senator Tom Harkin and hockey player Travis Roy.

Zak also talked about the spirit of his father and his friend Reeve. He explained that they always used to help others and never hesitated from doing so, even if they were in pain. He said that people need to tell the people they love that they love them and give them hope when everything seems to go in the wrong direction. 

When Robin Williams passed away on 11 August, Zak stated “Yesterday, I lost my father and a best friend and the world got a little grayer.” Losing Williams like that was a huge setback for everyone so we can imagine what his family must be going through. We stand with them in this hour of need. We hope they are strong and have gotten over their loss to move on with their lives.
