Salman Khan gets 5 years of sentence for hit-and-run case.
The Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was recently found guilty in a 2002 hit and run case on the 6th of May. As a result of the verdict Salman Khan will be sentenced to 5 years in jail. After spending 8 hours inside the Mumbai court Salman was finally granted Interim bail.
Salman Khan was previously supposed to be taken directly to the Arthur Road jail on the 7th of /4/but relief came in the form of bail for two days. The Interim bail was granted by the Bombay High Court after holding Salman for 8 hours.
Salman himself appeared visibly relieved after the bail was announced and was joined by his family who also seemed to have cheered up. Salman’s brother Sohail Khan and sisters Alvira and Arpita Khan also accompanied him out the court by his side.
As Salman came out of the court a sea of photographers and fans swarmed the superstar. Salman even waved to his fans as he was seen driving away in his car along with his family. The next bail hearing is set for the 8th of /4/at the Mumbai High Court. Salman’s lawyers have already confirmed they will be re-appealing the verdict.
In another turn of events an official complaint has been filed against the singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya for his controversial comments on the verdict of Salman Khan.
The complaint was filed by the activist Suraj Soni to the Jhotwara police station citing the comment had hurt the sentiments of the people. L=in the complaint legal action against the singer has been deemed necessary and it calls for an FIR against Abhijeet Bhattacharya. The police however have not yet registered any FIR and has kept the complaint as a probe according to officer Shiv Ku/3/Bharadwaj.
