A recent blog from Samsung hints at Galaxy S6 wireless charging support
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 launch is just around the corner, as the most awaited smartphone will be unveiled on March 1st 2015 at unpack event in Barcelona Spain. Since the launch is near, a bunch of rumors are floating in the industry regarding device specifications, however, Samsung has recently confirmed that its upcoming smartphone will include a brand new wireless charging technology out of the box.
Samsung’s principal engineer for IT and Mobile sector Seho Park mentioned that the Galaxy series including S6 and S Edge will be loaded with a new technology of wireless charging. Park also elaborated the whole wireless technology feature along with three major organizations behind this technology.
The standards involve Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which supplies Qi standard, Power Matters Alliance (PMA) and Alliance for Wireless Power. Since Samsung is a member of all three organizations, it is entitled to install the technology invented by any of those organizations individually or mutually. According to Park, a range of standards has been applied together on a single chip which is expected to be available in the market in near future. Smartphone users must have noticed that Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 do support wireless charging however, they require an external device in order to get wirelessly charged. Samsung promised to provide wireless charging feature straight out of the box in the Galaxy S6.
Since Samsung will be enabling wireless charging as default charging feature for its upcoming smartphone, it is expected that the wireless charging will work with every charging technology currently available in the market, which will be a big plus. Samsung has not unveiled any further details on how wireless charging will function, though it will be displayed in detail on Galaxy S6 Unpack Event in Barcelona Spain. As the new feature is making headlines, a new camera feature is also expected to be a part of new flagship which would enable customer to take astonishing snaps.
There are also reports that Samsung Galaxy S6 will make its appearance with all metal body to confront its rival iPhone 6 by Apple. The rest of specifications are still not confirmed yet, though chances are bright that new Galaxy S6 flagship will include a 5 inch QHD screen, 3GB RAM, 32 GB storage, 20 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera and a finger print sensor as well.
