The 105in monster is also the world’s largest curved TV and has a 21:9 aspect ratio
Samsung was all set for the IFA event in Berlin and though we were intrigued by the peculiar gadgets it announced, we were more than psyched to see the Korean outfit enter into another one of its ‘firsts’; this time with the world’s largest curved TV. Samsung seems to have made quite a mark on the TV department with this massive 105 inches TV which boasts a resolution of 5,120×2,160. We are pretty sure that we are all thinking this is quite something because it extends five times more than the resolution of Full HD 1,920×1,080 TVs. This is facilitated by the special aspect ratio of 21:9 as compared to the more traditional 16:9 display.
According to Samsung their new TV will have the ability to allow users to upscale any kind of content to UHD resolution. And in order to register subtle differences of brightness to improve contrast and expand the screen’s brightness range, the TV is going to use Samsung’s proprietary Peak Illuminator technology. This process is going to create a more detailed picture as an output. And if you had been thinking about some booming sound quality then think no more since your dreams will come true with the TV’s built-in 160W speaker.
If all these specs and features weren’t enough to impress you or get you totally hooked on to the idea of purchasing this as soon as possible, then wait till you hear about the unique aspect of the TV which allows it to bend. Yes you read that one right. Samsung has presented before us the world’s first and largest bendable TV which can go from being flat to curved all very seamlessly. There has never been anything this spectacular to enhance the viewing experience for consumers. The TV is going to bend at a curvature radius of 4,200mm which is the same as being offered on other curved sets by Samsung. So we don’t have to worry about whether it will look out of place with Samsung’s newly announced curved soundbar.
Robert King, Vice President of Consumer Electronics at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland said “We’re at the beginning of an exciting new era in TV viewing – an era driven by the curve: a simple yet powerful design that greatly enhances the viewing and overall sensory experience. IFA 2014 marks an exciting time to share the power of the curve with the world, bringing the Curved TV into the mainstream and highlighting its impact on the household viewing experience and TV market as a whole.”
