Sarah Hyland gets Restraint Order against Ex-Boyfriend

Sarah Hyland has gone “splitsville” with her former boyfriend, Matthew Prokop. But the process has not been without its teething troubles. Sarah regularly appeared in the TV show titled The Modern Family. 

She has got a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend. According to Sarah, he physically and psychologically abused her during the half a decade long relationship the two had with each other. 

And when she decided that enough was enough and terminated the affair he threatened her with retaliatory consequences. The restraining order says that Prokop will have to remain a 100 yards away from both the actress and her pet canine. 

“Hyland filed her petition on Friday,” E! News confirms, “and a hearing has been set for Oct. 10 on whether to extend the TRO, which currently mandates that Prokop stay at least 100 yards away from both the actress and her dog.”

The evidence Sarah gave in court says that Prokop constantly harassed her with messages saying that he would harm her and even threatened that he would kill himself for her sake. 

TMZ obtained court documents in which Hyland claimed that Prokop “relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats” after their split.

Sarah, who is 23, also said in court that her psycho ex had tried to strangle her repeatedly while calling her a very bad word during an argument. He also pinned her against the car and insulted her. 

“His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life,” Hyland stated in the documents.

She recounts how he had held her so forcefully that she couldn’t move or even breathe properly. That was what got her worried about her safety and so she decided that she would have to report matters to the law enforcement authorities. 

Sarah says that her throat hurt for a while after the event. According to Sarah, Prokop got so mad at her at one point that he even threatened her pet pooch. 

Thus the temporary restraining order also contains a clause against doing any harm to the dog. Sarah Hyland does not want to get married to her ex-boyfriend. She said that she was too young to tie the knot just yet. 

And besides, what kind of stupid girl would want to get married to an abusive husband like Prokop. At one point things game to a head and Prokop tried to set their home on fire. 

That was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. Sarah is having no more of him in her life. That is because better than an abusive relationship would be to have no relationship whatsoever.
