SodaStream made a big splash revealing Scarlett Johansson as its first-ever Brand Ambassador. SodaStream has already got more attention for its Super Bowl 2014 Ad because Fox banned it. It continues to go great for SodaStream as now Scarlett Johansson gets criticized for her involvement with the Israeli based maker of the Home Soda solution.

As reported, the SodaStream Super Bowl 2014 Ad features one of Hollywood’s sexiest actresses. Scarlett Johansson is SodaStream first brand ambassador and will also star in the SodaStream Super Bowl 2014 ad. Over the weekend the SodaStream Super Bowl 2014 Ad made headlines as Fox has rejected the initial version of the SodaStream Super Bowl 2014 Ad. Sorry. It waS not because Scarlett Johansson is too sexy, but because she says: “Sorry, Coke and Pepsi.”

The same thing happened last year. CBS rejected the initial SodaStream Super Bowl ad. Of course having a Super Bowl ad being banned is great PR. So I guess SodaStream just played the same trick again. They will drop the line so we can enjoy seeing Scarlett Johansson sip a SodaStream soda. It will be super sexy. Now comes the next lucky break for SodaStream. Scarlett Johansson gets openly criticized for her deal with SodaStream. Why? Because Israeli based SodaStream has a large factory in an israeli settlement in the West Bank. As you know this area is claimed by the Palestinians.

The criticism towards Scarlett Johansson comes form Oxfam. The organization is against all trades from Israeli settlements. Scarlett Johansson is though a global ambassador for Oxfam since almost a decade.

According to The Telegraph, Scarlett Johansson issued this statement: “I remain a supporter of economic cooperation and social interaction between a democratic Israel and Palestine,” said Johansson. “SodaStream is a company that is not only committed to the environment but to building a bridge to peace between Israel and Palestine, supporting neighbors working alongside each other, receiving equal pay, equal benefits and equal rights.”

Scarlett Johansson is supposed to be already a SodaStream customer since years. “I’ve been using the SodaStream products myself and giving them as gifts for many, many years,” said Johansson. “The company’s commitment to a healthier body and a healthier planet is a perfect fit for me. I love that the product can be tailored to any lifestyle and palate. The partnership between me and SodaStream is a no brainer. I am beyond thrilled to share my enthusiasm for SodaStream with the world!!”

This controversy reminds me on last year’s Coca-Cola Super Bowl ad scandal. The Coca-Cola Super Bowl 2014 Ad was supposedly racist. The whole controversy gave the ad a huge PR boost. It looks like SodaStream is going the reap the fruits of this year’s biggest Super Bowl Ad scandal.

Super Bowl 2014 will take place in New Jersey on February 2, 2014. The big game will be played in the Metlife stadium in East Rutherford. It will be the first outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl.
