- Sesame Street Puppets mimic Game of Thrones
The puppets of the children’s educational program Sesame Street tended to mimic the Game of Thrones series to the amusement of kids and their parents everywhere.
Humorously termed the Game of Chairs, Sesame Street decided to copy Game of Thrones. The video clip which has gone viral features Grover Bluejoy. Westeros is called Jesteros in a play upon words that lampoons the otherwise serious series.
As for the thrones, they are composed of various implements and tools of the trade such as golf clubs, bats and handles. Joffrey is also shown to be a complete clown in the Sesame Street version.
Instead of real thrones what is shown is a game of musical chairs with the puppets racing around it to get their respective seats. It almost reminds one of some of the politicians and their constituencies.
The Sesame Street parody is very funny and will elicit many a horse laugh and belly laugh from the audience. Children have always loved make-believe puppets. And as far as parodies go, no one can surpass Sesame Street with its interesting characters such as Oscar the Grouch and Elmo not to mention The Cookie Monster.
And while parody might be a bit of a parasitic practice like deconstruction, it has its pleasures which make one laugh one’s head off at the likenesses between the original and the reworked version.
