I have been at Baselworld a couple years ago. It is a magical place for watch enthusiasts. The dominating theme are luxury watches from Swiss watch makers including Panerai, Rolex, Breitling, Chopard, Hublot, Tag Heuer, just to name a few. The focus of converstation could though shift this year to smartwatches.

Switzerland recently changed its tune about the Apple Watch and will now go actively into the smartwatch market. Tag Heuer and Swatch made announcement that they will unveil smartwatches in the next months. The third on the smartwatch exhibitor list is Chinese company Berny. It is not clear what products this company will be exhibiting. Their website is not very informatiive and fails with errors at the time of writing this report.

Withings

Last but not least is French company Withings. The Withings Activite and Withings Activite Pop fitness trackers, disguised as Swiss analog watches, made a big splash at the CES. Now the company brings their products to the Baselworld. Will Withings suprise with a full featured smartwatch?
