AOL co-founder Steve Case will receive CEA’s Digital Patriot Award.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) today announced that it will honor Steve Case, co-founder of AOL and currently Chairman and CEO of Revolution with the Digital Patriot Award.

He will receive the award at the upcoming 11th Annual Digital Patriots Dinner. Steve Case is honored as digital patriot at his long support of technology innovation says CEA. The award will be handed out at the Digital Patriots Dinner scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

In 1985, Steve Case co-founded America Online (AOL). Under Case’s leadership, AOL was the first Internet company to go public and among the hottest stocks of the 1990s, delivering an 11,616% return to shareholders. These were the big internet bubble days that we almost experience today again.

Steve Case currently is chairman and CEO of Revolution, a Washington, D.C.-based investment firm he co-founded in 2005, where he partners with entrepreneurs to build significant “built to last” new businesses. CEA will announced Digital Patriots Dinner honorees in the coming weeks.

All proceeds from the Digital Patriots Dinner will be donated to the CEA Foundation, a public, national foundation affiliated with CEA that links seniors and people with disabilities with technologies to enhance their lives, and Girls Who Code, a national movement that aims to inspire, educate and equip girls with the computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities.

In conjunction with the Digital Patriots Dinner, CES on the Hill returns to the nation’s capital on Wednesday, April 15. This invitation-only event provides policymakers the opportunity to interact with the innovators.

CEA is the organizer of CES and in April they are engaging Washington to lobby for consumer electronics.
