Taylor Swift Dominates Billboard Music Awards with 8 Wins

The singer won Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Digital Song Artist, Top Streaming Video and Chart Achievement

Billboard Music Awards 2015 took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday. A number of stars dazzled at the show but the night was definitely belonged to Taylor Swift who won eight wards including Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Female Artist and Top Streaming Song for her video “Shake It Off.”

“Oh, this is such a good night,” Taylor Swift said after picking up the Top Artist Award and beating the likes of Ariana Grande, One Direction, Katy Perry and Sam Smith. “Early this morning I watched my brother Austin graduate from Notre Dame … to anyone who’s graduating this year… this is for you.”

Swift continued. “We have so much more to accomplish and so much more to fight for.” 

That was a special night for Taylor Swift for more reason. Her hotly anticipated video “Bad Blood” made the debut on the Billboard Awards. The video features cameo performances from many celebs including Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid and Cindy Crawford. The teasers of the video have been steadily released over the past week.

The video started with a fight sequence between Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez and ends on when their armies went head to head. The video is full of explosions, fighting scenes and weapons and is directed by Joseph Kahn who also directed Swift’s Blank Space video.

The night was opened with rock band Van Halen’s performance that brought high energy to the stage with their 1984 song “Panama”. Other notable performances included Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Kanye West and Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea who performed their latest duet “Pretty Girls.”
