  • People go mad over the new Taylor Swift album.
  • 1989 is the most anticipated album of the year.

Taylor Swift’s “1989” album is on top of the Billboard 200 albums chart. Last time so many records were sold in 2002. The album was released and by 2nd November, Taylor had already sold 1.287 million copies of her new album. The album was released on 27 October and this is Taylor’s fifth album. She has gotten better and better with the release of each album.

Now she is on top of the world and she isn’t looking to stop. This album is her fourth No.1 album. She also had Red (2002), Speak Now (2010) and Fearless (2008) that were on top of the charts. Here are some of the facts you will love to hear about. This week has seen the largest sales of an album since June 2 2002.

Last time in 2002, Eminem sold 1.3 million copies of his hit album, The Eminem Show. As soon as Taylor’s album was released, it went on top of the charts. She has now earned $3 million dollars from the album.

When her Red album was released she earned $1.208 million and $1.047 million when she released Speak Now. Coldplay’s Ghost Stories is also very popular. But their album only sold 745,000 copies. This is why Taylor Swift is significantly ahead of the British rock stars.

Taylor Swift recently took off her tracks from Spotify. It now looks like she has done a big mistake by taking off her tracks as Spotify is going to be announcing their revenue. Spotify claimed that they have overtaken income from iTunes downloads for the first time.

Taylor Swift must be kicking herself because of the news. Kobalt claim that they have generated a good amount of revenue from Europe in this year. The Kobalt chief was speaking at the Web Summit in Dublin and he said that they collected 13pc more European royalties from Spotify than from iTunes. Last year things were completely opposite and iTunes earned more than Spotify.

Two years ago there was no competition and iTunes was clearly the giant when it came to proving streaming services. But Spotify has been growing since the last two years and now it has generated more revenue than iTunes. A lot of celebrities are putting their music on Spotify and this is why it has been a great hit.
