A case of “The Snappening” is happening with thousands of photos and videos being pilfered from Snapchat.

Already there was the scandal concerning nude pics of celebs such as Jennifer Lawrence being leaked online. Now an even bigger catastrophe has occurred with Snapchat being hacked and 90,000 photographs and 9000 videos falling into the wrong hands.

The earlier one was termed the “Fappening” and it involved pics of among others: Cara Delevingne, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna. The nude pics drove Internet trolls and porn addicts wild as they congregated at Reddit and 4chan to gaze at wonderment at the impossible becoming possible. And now…this!

The Snappening, as it has been dubbed, involves nearly 100,000 leaked pics and clips that were meant to be strictly for private consumption. This is an outrage and a shocking discovery indeed.

The fact is that this is not a rumor and most of the people whose images have been hacked hail from Europe. While both males and females make up the content that has been made free for all to view, the nature of the content is fairly pornographic.

The usage of third party applications was the basic reason for the leakage. The fault was thus not Snapchat’s alone. And the third party app happens to be SnapSaved.com.

Furthermore, since the majority of those who frequent the byways of Snapchat are young teenagers, this leak could be a bonanza for child pornographers and serve as masturbation material for child molesters.

Snapchat has been making huge profits and most of the images that are sent via the service always self-destruct within a time span of 10 seconds. But this time around they have made it into reality in a frozen form. And this is cause for worry indeed.

The FTC lodged a complaint with the authorities against Snapchat to the effect that the lucrative company had bamboozled its users. It did not provide them with the necessary privacy and thus had failed to live up to its promise of anonymity and confidentiality.

The lastest developments suggest that the Snapping is actually not happening. The content of the leaked SnapChat photos is not that exciting for 4Chan readers suggest one hacker. There are also no imminent plans for a searchable database.
