In a surprising move Comedy Central names Trevor Noah new Daily Show host. After making three appearances as a contributor, Trevor Noah has been promoted as the host of The Daily Show after Jon Stewart announced his retirement a couple weeks ago.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart has been a milestone in creating a humorous approach on the current affairs of the country. Jon recently announced that he will be retiring from the show after 16 years of doing the show at age 52. His pre-warning gave the producers at Comedy Central to find the next host to replace Jon Stewart.

Noah is a 31 years old South African biracial comedian. He already has a great fan following and a great body of work in his resume. He performed in David Paul Meyer’s award-winning documentary film “You Laugh But It’s True”- the story of his remarkable career in post-apartheid South Africa. Noah’s one-man show “The Racist” at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe was a sold out run that became one of the most talked about shows at the Festival that year.

Recently, Noah performed for the Royal Family at the Royal Variety Performance. He also appeared on the Tonight with David Letterman and Tonight with Jay Leno. Trevor also has his own late night show in South Africa; Tonight with Trevor Noah. He is on tour performing comedy onstage when Jon announced his decision to retire.

Comedy Central’s producer Ganeless expressed that Trevor has been the best person to succeed Jon Stewart. He said that we asked around and Trevor seemed like the best person for the job. He has a worldwide following and he is just as much liked and will be well received in US.

Trevor had something to say as well when he found out about his promotion. He said that he felt honored that he was going to be a part of a show that Jon and the team had worked hard on building up. He expressed his excitement to join the show.

Jon is also glad of his successor. He said that the Trevor is the right person for the job and he would definitely be taking the show to the next level. Jon said he might even be rejoin the show as a backstage hand just to be a part of it.
