Twitter announced its earnings of the year and the amount it earned in the last quarter of 2014.

Twitter’s financial year ended on 31st December 2014 and with that they announced their earnings of the year. In the last quarter they earned $479 million. Their losses reached to $125 million and non-GAAP net income of $79 million.

In the year 2014, Twitter earned $1.403 billion and they had a net loss of $578 million. So the non-GAAP net income was $101 million. CEO of Twitter said that they have closed the year with their business advancing at a very fast pace.

Twitter’s user grew by 1.4% in the last quarter. This was a miserable number according to Twitter CFO Anthony Noto and he said that things are turning around. He blamed the faulty iOS 8 and said that the faulty operating system cost Twitter 4 million user per month.

No one expected Twitter to earn $479m in their last quarter. Their users are growing at very slow speed but there is something that Twitter is doing right which is making the bucks for them.

The main problem that Twitter is facing right now is their user growth rate. It was very low when compared with last year. Even investors are starting to worry about the user growth rate.

So how are they going to get more users? Well for starters Twitter announced that they will syndicate their Promoted Tweet ads to outside publishers. So these outside publishers are going to include giants like Flipboard and Yahoo Japan.

So now because of this strategy, Twitter will be able to run more ads at more places. And some analysts believe that they will be extending themselves to a wider audience and this will solve Twitter’s user growth problem.

Another problem Twitter is facing is that they aren’t dealing with abuse and trolling. Whenever a user is a victim of trolling, they immediately leave Twitter and this is how the company loses their core users.

So the company say that in the future the user will have more control over how they can report abusive accounts and Twitter will make sure to look at the flagged accounts. If users are found guilty of causing pain to another user, their account will be seized and will be notified to the authorities.
