Technology has surely followed us everywhere and now it is possible for it to exist in every nook and corner of our homes too. As the number of people waiting to get more comfort surround their household increased, the success of the Smart Home concept was quite evident. Now the French brand ARCHOS has set out to try its luck in this seemingly new area and it claims it has brought something very simple, open and accessible.

Loic Poirier, CEO of Archos, says “We are in an era where we want to control everything, and the home is central in this trend: no matter if we’re at work or anywhere else, we like knowing what’s happening at home and we want to be able to manage it, even when we’re not there. With the open Smart Home system, Archos is aiming to be a leading player in the home of the future.”

The Archos Smart Home gateway is fully loaded with 433MHz technology which makes it possible for the home to be connected to this system which is no less than a real mission control center. To add cherry on the top, the system supports all major brands such Somfy, DI.O Chacon, Bliss, Otio, Conrad, etc. All accessories in the home can be connected and controlled using the “Learn & Control” feature. Imagine the comfort of controlling your shutters, garage doors, plugs, lamps, etc all from your smart mobile devices. The control of all these accessories can be made available to you anywhere in the world, thus allowing easier and simple home automation.

The system is also fully compatible with the FOSCAM cameras, one of the market leaders in IP cameras, and this means you can stream any video content directly on your smartphone or tablet. You can also add IP camera’s features such as HD video, infrared night-vision, movement detection, 360 degrees movement, etc. to the Smart Home programs.

You will be more than grateful to learn that ARCHOS has also opened up its tablet and the SmartHome application to IFTTT (the popular online system letting anyone create of a simple “If This, Then That” recipe between objects and online tools) which further increases the inter-connectivity between connected objects, social networks and other apps. You can program and automate common tasks such as switch on the nest thermostat when you get home or switch on a light through a tweet.

The Archos Smart Home Tablet Gateway is not just easy to use but also every affordable and is now available for $99.99. However, the ARCHOS and third party accessories are going to be sold separately.
