First A6 tested in 15 years gets top marks

Audi has been making some of the nicest luxury cars around for years. The latest Audi to hit the US is the 2014 A6 and that car has just completed its crash testing with the federal government. The car did very well in testing earning top marks all around.

The A6 is was tested in the US for the first time in 15 years and eared top five scores in all categories of testing. That means that the A6 received top score in all subcategories as well including side pole rating and others reports The Car Connection.

The ratings apply to FWD and AWD versions of the A6. The IIHS has also crash tested the A6 and it earned top scores there with “Good” ratings. One crash test from the IIHS that hasn’t been scored yet for the A6 is the difficult small overlap front test.

This is one of the hardest and newest tests in the arsenal at the IIHS. There is no indication of when that test score will be offered. The Audi A6 is a rival to the BMW 5-series and received better marks in many categories of testing.

The A6 can be optioned with a number of safety features like front and rear parking sensors, a rear view camera, blind spot mirrors, and a night vision system. An available driver assistance package adds adaptive cruise control cornering camera, and a system that will cinch down seatbelts and slow the car when an obstacle is sensed.
