Barbara Bush is Hospitalized

Barbara Bush, the wife of former US president George H.W. Bush, was hospitalized on Monday for early signs of pneumonia.

Former first lady Barbara Bush is still hospitalized. She was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Houston’s Texas Medical Center on Monday due to early signs of pneumonia. The family of 88 years old Barbara Bush said that she was “in great spirits.”

The family spokesman of Barbara Bush, Jim McGrath said, “Former first lady Barbara Bush was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Houston’s Texas Medical Center yesterday for treatment on a respiratory related issue. She has already received visits from her husband and family, and is receiving fantastic care.” 

George H.W. Bush was the 41st President of the United States. Hence Barbara Bush was the 41st first lady of the US. She had served as First Lady of the United States from 1989 to 1993. She is also the mother of the 43rd President, George W. Bush and of the 43rd Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush. Previously she had served as Second Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989.

Barbara Bush has worked a lot in education sector as wife of the Vice President and then President. She has supported and worked to advance the cause of universal literacy. In 1989, when she was the first lady, she founded the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. Since leaving the White House, she has continued to advance this cause.
