Catherine Zeta-Jones to Star in The Godmother

Catherine Zeta-Jones was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her act as a ruthless wife of a drug lord in Traffic. The Actress has now landed a new role in a true story “The Godmother”. The film will be directed by Norwegian, Helmer Eva Sørhaug, and Catherine Zeta-Jones will play the main role as the real Griselda Blanco. She will play the role as the only women to rise to the higher ranks as a Columbian drug lord.

Griselda Blanco was a figure that everyone feared. She was a strong figure at the center of the Miami drug wars. The drug wars continued from the 1970’s till the 1980’s. The Magnolia Pictures released a documentary about these incidents called “Cocaine Cowboys”.

Griselda Blanco, was given the name of Cocaine Godmother and the Black Widow. This was because during her reign, she ordered hundreds of assassinations to keep all the money and power to herself. Her reign was the reign of terror since she was known to be vicious and violent.

Griselda Blanco, was born in Columbia. She ran away from home as a teenager and worked as a prostitute. She showed up in New York and started a cocaine business with her husband. In the drug business she was the biggest success story of her generation. When there was an indication that she was a part of the federal investigation, she ran back to Columbia and surfaced in Miami a while later.

Once in Miami she built a network connecting New York, Miami, LA and Columbia. Her actions made her a multimillionaire in her late forties. She was arrested in 1985, and served 18 years in prison. She was a mother of four, and in 2004 was deported back to Columbia. While she was in Columbia she was assassinated in a motorcycle drive-by in 2012.

The filming will start early next year however the release date has not yet been decided. The script of the upcoming movie will be written by Frank Baldwin. Sørh/8/will direct the movie and the production falls in the hands of Daniela Cretu. She will be producing for her First Born Films banner, and Nicholas Pileggi, an Oscar-nominee will be executive producer.

Catherine Zeta-Jones will be playing Godmother. She is already an Oscar winner for the role she played in Chicago. She won a Tony Award for acting in a Broadway show by Stephen Sondheim called “A Little Night Music”. She was recently seen in “RED 2”, which is an action sequel, and “Side Effects”.
