Drake’s surprise album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, broke the streaming site’s record which was held previously by him too.

Spotify is one happy streaming site as it posted the news on Twitter. With a slight pun intended, the site announced that if the users were reading the tweet it was because Drake’s new mixtape had broke Spotify record.

Drake released his new album “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” and Spotify was bombarded with people streaming for his songs. The album features 17 songs featuring Lil Wayne, Travi$ Scott, and PartyNextDoor.

The album was released on 14th February and was streamed 6.8 million times on the first day alone, according to Billboard. Within three days, the album went on to score 17.3 million streams in its first three days and the week is not finished yet.

The new record broke the old record which was held by Drake himself from his 2013 album ‘Nothing Was the Same.’ The previous album had 15.8 million streams. So congratulations to Drake for breaking his own record.

In the age of streaming, Drake proves to be the modern pioneer of music. When the success of music is now generally rated on streaming and downloads, Drake has set and broken his own records.

Taylor Swift might have sold a million albums and topped iTunes twice last year. Professionals have commented that Spotify is the next ‘it’ hub on internet. With easy access and availability, Spotify has become U.S. spot for music. Any record on Spotify that is broken can be written down as musical history.

Instead of fearing the album’s internet availability, Drake has used the internet to make the album bigger and get more figures in ratings than any other star in the American music industry.

The album was released last week on iTunes after the rapper teased the project with a short film called Jungle. The album is anticipated to sell about 50,000 albums upon its former release. Drake is currently busy in promoting his album.
