- The Farrelly Brothers have continued the tale of the two dumbest people on movie history once more.
- Daniels would be reprising their roles as Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas.
Dumd and Dumber To is the sequel to the hit comedy flick Dumb and Dumber which was released in 1994. The movie is expected to earn $30 million on this weekend.
10 years ago, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels cracked us right up playing two of the dumbest people on the face of the Earth. Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas were the dynamic duo of dumb asses whose dumbness punched us right in the face as we doubled over with laughter.
Back then Jim Carrey was on the rise with hits like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Rubber Face and his blooming stand-up comedy career, he was offered $7 million back then to play Harry Dunne. Comparatively Jeff Daniels got $50 thousand because the producers were not confident in his comedic abilities after the array of serious films he had acted in before that. Jeff took the fifty and proved each and every on of the people wrong to doubt his acting abilities.
After 10 years, where would we think the dumb-duo would be? Apparently Lloyd is visiting a comatose Harry. Harry had been in that condition after being dumped by a girl. What Lloyd doesn’t know apparently is the Harry has been faking it for the past twenty years as a prank to get him. Lloyd ever so dumb found the prank ‘awesome.’
The story revolves around another road trip when Lloyd finds a stack of old postcards which reveal that he has a daughter. His daughter who must be 18 by then is named Penny. She might be the perfect kidney donor for Lloyd who needs one. Harry however falls for his best friend’s daughter. The trip continues where they get back at their old nemesis, make new ones and friends and are dumber than ever.
Jim Carrey, despite his faltering career in the past few years, is back in the saddle again. The Rubber Face man is ready to kick it and his role is being described as someone aggressive. Jeff Daniels returns as the mediator between the nonsense of the world and the nonsense of Harry.
Probably the only man alive capable of doing it. This would be a fresh break for Daniels after he won an Emmy for the Newsroom. It was interesting to see the poster of the movie as it takes a minute to actually realize how much the actors have changed in appearances but the Farrelly brothers are promising a better and funnier ride this time.
The film is expected to do a business of $30 million chiefly because of two reasons; Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels and the popularity of the first part. It would be interesting to see the dynamic of choice of the young movie goers. The ones who watched the first part would definitely be buying a ticket at the theaters.
