The beautiful and talented actress, Nina Dobrev of Vampire Diaries fame is to leave the series. This has led to widespread shock among her fans.

The Vampire Diaries starlet, Nina Dobrev is all set to leave the set of the series. And guess what? Her costar Michael Trevino is also to take a bow. In the seventh season, there will be no Nina.

Nina made the declaration on social media that she had just enjoyed the most lovely weekend on Lake Lanier in Georgia. And that was with her cast and crew. According to Nina’s Instagram post, it was a farewell party.

She also said that her character (Elena) was meant to last for six seasons and now that the sixth season was about to roll, she would be packing her stuff and leaving with tears in her eyes. It had indeed been a wonderful time that she had had on the series.

Dearest TVD Family, I’ve just spent the most beautiful weekend on Lake Lanier in Georgia with my own TVD Family, the cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries. I want to be the first to tell you that it wasn’t just a holiday celebration, it was a goodbye party. I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime. I was a human, a vampire, a doppelganger, a crazy immortal, a doppelganger pretending to be human, a human pretending to be a doppelganger. I got kidnapped, killed, resurrected, tortured, cursed, body-snatched, was dead and undead, and there’s still so much more to come before the season finale in May. Elena fell in love not once, but twice, with two epic soulmates, and I myself made some of the best friends I’ll ever know and built an extended family I will love forever. There’s more to come before we wrap this up, and I promise you’ll get to hear all about my experiences over the next month as we approach the season finale (I have given an exclusive interview for the June issue of SELF Magazine that I am excited for you to see!), but until then I invite you to hop on the roller coaster ride that is Elena Gilbert’s life and join me as I celebrate her and prepare to say goodbye to her — and to my work family — as I move on to the next chapter of my life. I want to share this goodbye with all of you (this weekend’s pictures were just the beginning). You, the wonderful fandom who gave more love, support and passion than anyone could have ever imagined seven years ago, when a young Degrassi girl from Canada showed up in LA to audition for ‘that Twilight TV show.’ 😉 I love you all. Fasten your seatbelts. If you think you know what’s coming, you don’t. Love, Nina

Nina said that she had played a wide variety of roles from human to vampire to doppelganger and mad immortal. These difficult roles had lent her a cornucopia of experience that she would apply in the context of her future career.

The ordeals and arrows of fortune that Nina endured as a regular star on The Vampire Diaries had made her rough and tough. She had undergone so much from torture to murder and kidnapping not to mention having her body literally snatched (all in reel life of course) that by now she was a seasoned veteran female actress par excellence.

And her character of Elena fell truly, madly, deeply in love with two avatars through the time span of the six seasons. Nina admits that she has found kindred spirits and souls in the people on set.

They are like an extended family of sorts. Her friends are myriad and it is indeed a feeling of community and camaraderie that she has built as a support system around her. The fact that Nina is leaving for good /4/be sad news but then parting is such sweet sorrow.

However, it will take a year’s time for her to wrap things up and make a hasty exit. Until then she will be lending her valuable talent to the series. The series has already lost lots of brilliantly talented individuals. With Nina’s departure another star will have sunk in the heavens of The Vampire Diaries.

The relationships and complex webs of intrigue involved on the set of The Vampire Diaries will be something Nina Dobrev will miss dearly. And her costars will also remember her in kind words as a morally beautiful soul and a truly wonderful person.

According to THR, Michael Trevino (Tyler) can also leave Vampire Diaries due to his role in ABC’s Kingmakers.
