The iCloud Drive feature integrates seamlessly into Windows Explorer, showing up as another drive in the list of connected devices.
iCloud Drive For Windows Users Now Available To Download
Apple’s iCloud couldn’t exactly be categorized in any of the cloud storage options and we certainly wont consider it to be a direct competitor of platforms such as Box, Google Drive etc. The iCloud was a good option for backing up data but that’s where your limit comes because as far as storing documents and other content is concerned, this was no good. If you had always wanted to use iCloud more like a virtual hard drive then you are in for some good news because things are going to change as Apple introduces iCloud Drive. A version for this has already been released by Apple however the Mac users will have to wait till the official unveiling of OS X Yosemite 10.10.
The integration of the iCloud Drive feature into the Windows Explorer is going to be extremely smooth and it will just show up as another drive in the list of connected devices. This embedded system isn’t something new and has always been there for some big cloud storage services. The biggest advantage of this is the ease with which a user can navigate around.
We have been hearing that that uptake of iCloud Drive on Windows is not likely to reach the same proportions as those on Mac but this move towards the Windows platform is a much needed one and Apple was right in thinking that they really needed to cater to the needs of the Windows users too. This also makes sense if you take into account the fact that there are plenty of Windows users who still own iOS devices and would want to use the iCloud storage facility.
