Japanese take inspiration from the Apple Watch and create alternative wearable fruit and vegetable. Banana brand Dole has introduced a wearable banana with LED display and Tomato brand Kagome shows off a weird wearable tomato device.

The creations show off the Japanese love for gadgets. Both products are though tongue-in-cheek creations. Dole and Kagome created these eatable wearables for promotions around the Tokyo Marathon that takes place on Saturday, Feb. 21.

Dole has been a sponsor of the Tokyo Marathon since several years now. This year they decided to go “Otaku” on bananas announcing the wearable banana. The features of the wearable banana would include measuring the heart rate, lap time and display the information on a real banana. Dole also says that fans can cheer runners through social media. The message will be displayed on the banana peel.

Dole has setup an elaborate site and published a teaser video for the Wearable Banana. How exactly the wearable banana will work remains to be seen.

Kagome introduced a wearable tomota dispenser for the Tokyo marathon. The Tomachan is a hands free tomato eating machine that was developed by Japanese artist Nobumichi Tosa. Tosa also developed a compact version called the Mini-Tomachan. Kagome has evolved their wearable tomato project quite a bit. A couple month ago they experimented placing a tomato on the wrist.
