Mixpanel has started sharing its findings with the public, and as of early afternoon on the 20th, it appears the smaller iPhone 6 is very much in the lead.
Early Data Suggests iPhone 6 Is Outselling iPhone 6 Plus By A Huge Margin
we didn’t think we would be comparing the sales of the two iPhone models this early but the question is already on everyone’s minds that which of the two iPhones is selling more. We know it will be too early to compare which of the two models of the iPhone 6 is getting in more hands but still who can stop oneself when it comes to getting to know just a bit about how things are going or what the future of the phones is going to be. For this we might take a little help from the people at Mixpanel, who offer analytics SDK for app developers. And why they are a good source on Apple? Their code lies in a larger proportion of the iOS apps.
This is why we are taking the stats coming from them to be more reliable and accurate than from anywhere else. Mixpanel has generated a graph and ever since then it has been updating it on an hourly basis and the findings have been open to public. From what they had on the afternoon of September 20th, it appears that the iPhone 6 was taking the lead in sales. They have arrived at this conclusion after getting to the numbers which have suggested that the iPhone 6 makes up nearly 2.5% of the devices being used with apps that Mixpanel is tracking.
It would be misleading to look at this percentage because we cant compare the recently launched iPhone 6 with other phones on the market. The iPhone 6 hasn’t been on the market for very long and hence we are more interested in the ratio of iPhone 6 to iPhone 6 Plus use. On the other hand, the iPhone 6 Plus makes up less than a third of one percentage point.
