Dancing with the Stars: Jessie J Appears as a Guest Judge

Jessie J made an appearance as a guest judge on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars on Monday night.  She opened the performance with her hit Bang Bang and was wearing a short black dress with black ankle boots. Later on, Jessie sang Masterpiece wearing a sleeveless red dress and Peta Murgatroyd and Val were dancing in front of her.

Everyone was impressed by her stunning performance and she sang three songs from her upcoming album “Sweet Talker.” But when she sat in as a judge, and handed out low marks to the contestants she found herself booed by people.

Jessie J gave a lowly 6 to the first contestant of the night, Antonio Sabato Jr, but when she gave Carrie Ann Inaba 8 marks the crowd became furious.

Jessie kept on giving low scores along with dishing out punitive comments to the dancers throughout the night. She told Jonathan Bennett that his jitterbug was a big disappointment and it made her feel uncomfortable and nervous. 

During the night, she was struggling to find words for her commentary, for example, when she was criticizing Tommy Chong, she said, “It wasn’t like, ‘Wooah’ but it was like, ‘Yeah!’”

The host of the show, Tom Bergeron started to tease Jessie regarding her harsh comments and low scores. He said don’t let the people around you influence you and you should go with your gut. Soon other judges were also influenced by her and they started to dish out harsh comments along with low scores. They were also booed by the crowd. 

At one point the co-host Erin Andews said that “We need to get some happy pills out there or something.” And according to dancer Derek Hough, the whole judging was a little irrational and stupid that night.

At the end of the show every contestant was very disappointed and upset about the low scores.  They said this was among the worst nights of Dancing with the Stars.
