- The Weeknd will be performing in the After Party on Feb. 1.
Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Darnell Dockett is hosting a concert featuring rapper Big Sean at the Maya Day + Nightclub in Scottsdale on Jan. 29.
Dockett is hosting a concert featuring rapper Big Sean at the Maya Day + Nightclub in Scottsdale on Jan. 29, per The Arizona Republic‘s Megan Finnerty. Big Sean rose to prominence in 2011 with the songs “Finally Famous” and “Dance (A$$).” He followed these up with an album entitled “Hall of Fame” producing hits such as “Beware” and “MILF.”
Big Sean is known for hosting several prominent artists in his songs and albums. Among those he has tapped are Lil Wayne, Nas, Kid Cudi and Nicki Minaj. However, no guests have been announced for the Jan. 29 gig just yet, per The Arizona Republic.
Finnerty describes Dockett’s humor and potential as a host:
“Judging from his Twitter feed, Dockett, a defensive tackle, will be a wildly weird and entertaining host Thursday night. From fake live-Tweeting from jury selection, to oversharing about listening to Taylor Swift and wanting to do drugs (but insisting he would never), Dockett is reliably funny.”
Finnerty says the $25 general admission tickets are all sold out. The available ones are the $35 and $50 ones in the same section and theh $125 VIP tickets.
It’s not only Dockett and Big Sean who will be making waves in the same venue.
Finnerty adds hip-hop artist The Weeknd will be the main performer at the After Party show on Feb. 1 once Super Bowl XLIX draws to a close. His falsetto is familiar to Drake’s, and the two have gone on tour together.
The Weeknd is featured on the Hunger Games and Fifty Shades of Grey soundtracks, according to The Arizona Republic. The lower-priced general admission tickets to his After Party show are sold out as well. Those which sell for $80 have yet to be released, although the $125 VIP tickets can be purchased at www.eventbrite.com.
In other news, Buddy, the GoDaddy.com puppy featured in a Super Bowl XLIX ad with race car driver Danica Patrick, will remain with the company in a “C-suite” role as its Chief Companion Officer, per Finnerty’s colleague at The Arizona Republic, Laurie Merrill.
GoDaddy spokeswoman Elizabeth Driscoll said in a press release obatined by Merrill that the company’s employees became so enamored with Buddy they decided to adopt him:
“Last month, Buddy wrapped his first Hollywood-style commercial shoot in California, shooting one of its most critical scenes with GoDaddy spokesman and NASCAR superstar Danica Patrick.
“While working on-set, GoDaddy team members fell in love with the puppy and started rallying support to adopt the adorable canine.”
Merrill adds Buddy has his very own canine corporate office. He will be taken cared of by different GoDaddy employees during nights and weekends.
GoDaddy chief marketing officer Barb Rechterman also describes Buddy’s role with the company and its new thrust when it comes to Super Bowl ads:
“As our Chief Companion Officer, Buddy will be interacting with customers, mostly small business owners who are looking for relaxation and a reprieve from their hectic workday.
“We know that puppies hit an emotional chord with people. Puppies garner more news-media coverage. And we want to get the spot watched.”
Buddy got his name from a social media campaign launched by the company, per Merrill. He also has his own website, GoDaddyBuddy.com.
