New Focus gets new driver assistance tech

Ford has announced that it has redesigned the 2015 Focus giving it a new look on the outside and the inside. The 2015 Focus will also get the 1.0L EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine opting in the US for the first time. That engine has been available in the Focus in Europe for a while.

The 1.0L EcoBoost is a twin turbo engine that delivers the power of a larger 4-cylinder engine while promising better fuel efficiency. The all-new 2015 Focus also gets some new driver assistance features. Those driver assistance features include a standard rearview camera, an available lane keeping system, and available Blind Sport information system.

“We have taken the title of world’s best-selling nameplate to impressive new heights with the redesigned Focus,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford executive vice president and president of The Americas. “Its combination of compelling, modern design and the most high-tech interior in the class will appeal to contemporary consumers who desire a small car with very sophisticated features. What makes Focus so attractive to consumers today – being great to drive, delivering exceptional fuel economy and value, and offering leading-edge in-car technologies – is amplified with the new Focus.”

The all-new Focus gets a familial look in the front with headlights and a grille that look a lot like the Fusion. To meet the expected demand for the 1.0L EcoBoost with the US now having access in the Fusion, Ford has doubled capacity for producing the engine to 1000 units a day at the German factory.
