Grey’s Anatomy Star Jesse Williams goes to the Ferguson October Protest

Jesse reprised the role of Jackson Avery on the hit Shonda Rhimes’ TV series Grey’s Anatomy. The role has made its own recognition among the bunch as ‘McHottie’ and ‘Sloan’s Pawn’ among the fans. The character is an interracial child but the issue has never been touched in the show.

He has been called ‘pretty’ on the show but that was as far as discrimination went against Avery probably because his grandfather was Harper Avery and had the most prestigious medical award named after him.

Jackson has struggled to fight out of the shadow of his mother and make his own way when he signed on to become Sloan’s protegee and taking over his position when Sloan died. Family name always acts up and Avery foundation invested in buying the hospital and Jackson was out in charge.

Since then we have seen Jackson’s character evolve into an administrator which often makes him the hated party by most of his colleagues. Jackson became pretty reckless when he eloped with April Kepner and we fell in love with him all over again.

At this point, Jackson and April are trying to figure out their marriage and welcome their expected child. Jackson claimed in the third episode of the latest season that he was desperate for surgeries.

He is down to doing nip tucks and fat removal because of his responsibilities as the administrator of the hospital. He begged Callie who had a row with Owen in the hallway that he was desperate to do some real work instead of being a hall monitor.

He then offers to help Callie with a nerve-graft that would make her robotic leg useful for the war-veteran Owen had asked her to treat. Owen and Callie then make up and offer Jackson a spot on the new program they intend to start for war-veterans. Jackson seemed excited and so are we to see these three work together.

While that was all on Grey’s, he left the set after finishing up and headed to Ferguson to join the protest against the Michael Brown shooting by the off duty officer Darren Wilson. The 18 year old was shot after a struggle between the cop and him.

Wilson had stopped Michael because he walking in the middle of the road with his friend. Ferguson PD has claimed that Michael was involved in a burglary earlier the evening of his shooting but Wilson was off duty and was not notified about the teenagers crime.

So there was no pretext for Wilson shooting Michael and killing him. The protesters are demanding that Officer Wilson should be arrested for his crime and committed to trial. Jesse Williams has become socially active after he acted in The Butler last year as James Lawson.

He said that spending time with Oprah made him realize the challenges of being an African-American. He tweeted his movements and posted pictures in which he was hugging and consoling one of the protesters while standing with the protesters in another. We hope that justice shall prevail and Jesse’s efforts bear fruit.
