iPhone 6 NFC chip is restricted to Apple Pay

Many of us had been excited about the Apple iPhone 6 being equipped with NFC but there is some bad news for all those who had been looking forward to using it for pairing with speakers or other NFC-related tasks because the NFC chip inside the new iPhone 6 smartphones is restricted to ApplePay only. The NFC was part of all the rumors which surrounded the iPhone 6 and like most of the other features this one also turned out to be correct; the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus both come with NFC. The reason for so much excitement was also the fact that it was a first for an Apple product.

It is generally accepted that any product equipped with NFC will be able to perform almost all things. Some of these things include easy pairing with countless devices like speakers, NFC tags for quick launching apps, sharing files easily and similar things. But with the iPhone 6 it is a completely different story because you wont be able to do all of these tasks thanks to Apple for giving us a restricted NFC chip which is only going to work with its new payment system known as the ApplePay.

“At the moment, there isn’t any open access to the NFC controller. There are currently no NFC APIs in the iOS 8 GM SDK – which would indicate that the NFC capability will be restricted to Apple Pay at launch,” states RapidNFC, an NFC tag provider.
