Quentin Tarantino is set to shoot “Hateful Eight” in Colorado and will be given $5 million to do so.
Quentin Tarantino Will Shoot “Hateful Eight” In Colorado
The Colorado state has given $5 million to director-writer Quentin Tarantino to produce eight films. These eight feature films are going to be shot in southwestern Colorado starting in December.
On Friday morning, the $5 million package was approved by the Economic Development Commission which has allowed the state to beat rivals such as Wyoming and Utah.
The film commissioner Donald Zuckerman signed all of the necessary contracts minutes after the approval of the package. He did this so that production spending could move forward.
The state hasn’t seen any major movie productions and this is why the state was quick to give the package to Quentin Tarantino. The last good movie to come from the state was in 1969 which was called “True Grit”.
The movies are budgeted at $44 million and it is going to be a significant production. Zuckerman also told the reporters that the whole movie is going to be shot in the state which includes both the interiors and the exteriors.
He said that they will be building it on a ranch. It was also reported that $15.7 million are going to be used for paying the cast. This also includes a crew of 168 and $9.35 million are going to be spent on lodging.
The package released by the state makes up for 20 percent of the total spending. Preparation for the movie is going to start in the next month whereas the shooting of the movie is going to start in December.
Someone even gave us the date and they said that it would start on the 8th December and is going to be on the Schmid Ranch, which is 10 miles west of Telluride.
The crew will be given a Christmas break but for now they would lodging at Telluride. The director came to Telluride and he absolutely loved the place. The movies are going to be a hit as the writers and the director are all excited because of the location.
