- Sony’s New Ghostbusters will Not be All-Male Flick
Sony Pictures want to come out with a novel Ghostbusters movie and it is willing to take on the Russo Brothers Channing Tatum, Chris Pratt, and many others on board the enterprise.
Sony is willing to take a couple of risks and so the Ghostbusters franchise is being expanded under pressure. This is to be a light action-packed comedy that is a foil to the Paul Feig film that is due to start its shooting in June.
And it was first reported by Deadline that Sony’s new Ghostbusters movie with Russo Brothers, Channing Tatum and ‘IM3′ Scribe Drew Pearce would be an all-male film. However, EW later claims that a source said that new Ghostbusters won’t necessarily be all-male.
Ghostcorps, a sister concern, is also being set up by the studio. It will be headed by Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd. And it will all take inspiration from the original movie which came out in the mid 80s. Reitman wants to hire Joe and Anthony Russo for the basic scenes.
Besides this a host of other actors such as Channing Tatum, Drew Pearce and Reid Carolin not to mention Peter Kiernan are being invited to participate in the making of the new comedy sequel. Tatum might be a Ghostbuster alright in the end. He is a good choice for filling the role.
Meanwhile, a reboot version of Ghostbusters featuring an all-female cast might become a reality too pretty soon. It will star Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
Aykroyd plays a big part in all this since he is the most prominent and popular of the Ghostbusters crew. It was he who sowed the seeds for the idea of Ghostcorps. Things are definitely moving in the right direction.
Besides movies and television shows, several spinoff items of merchandise will be available soon thus lending street cred to the Ghostbusters enterprise.
As for the all-female cast, they consist of the most fun-loving chicas on the face of the planet. Especially Melissa McCarthy with her roly poly frame and constant pearly white smile will lend some levity to the whole scenario. Even an adaptation of Baywatch /4/be in the pipeline.
And while things are still in their infancy, the enterprise /4/go on to burgeon into a complete universe of influence. And one more addition to the series /4/be Chris Pratt. The two movies in the works are basically complementary versions that will dovetail into each other.
Besides the movies are not going to have any male chauvinism in them. They are female-friendly. Ghostbusters will show a new dimension of the sci-fi genre that few have seen before. And the comedy version will probably go well with the crowd of fun-loving Americans.
