Sony’s Google Glass Rival Going On Sale In March

The technology focus has completely shifted towards the world of wearables and first it was the smartwatches gaining momentum and now the headgears have started to get equal attention too. First it was the introduction of the Google Glass and that set the trend for all other sorts of head mounted gadgets. And now it’s time for Sony to show its part of the act. The Japanese firm has been working on its eyewear for some time now. Their project called the SmartEyeglass will be seen in the market by March of 2015 but for today we have another news from Sony; the PlayStation maker has released the SDK.

SmartEyeglass’s prototype was first showcased at the CES event at the start of this year and just like we had already expected and taking its queue from all others of its kind in the market, this one comes loaded with multiple sensors. The SmartEyeglass comes with the standard accelerometer and gyroscope along with some other pretty amazing features too including an electronic compass and ambient light sensor, and with a 3-megapixel camera to boot. This shows that Sony’s wearable is going to boost a lot of functionality for its users.

Sony here has gotten itself a lot of advantage as it got to learn from the likes of Google Glass that it is best to keep the sensors at a minimum. That’s what Google had to do ultimately; it reduced down the bulk with its Glass as compared to the earlier prototypes to the current Explorer Edition.
