Jenkins will replace Michelle MacLaren who has recently announced her departure from the project

Warner Bros. is about to sign a new director Patty Jenkins for upcoming film Wonder Woman after Michelle MacLaren decided to part ways with the project, reported by the Hollywood Reporter.

Patty Jenkins, who has replaced Michelle MacLaren, made his directorial debut in 2001 with the film “Death Warrant” but she rose to the fame with the Oscar award winning film “Monster” starring Charlize Theron. In 2013, Jenkins was approached by the Marvel Entertainment for the direction of superhero film “Thor 2”. She reportedly turned down the offer due to creative differences. Alan Taylor, the director of “Game of Thrones” ultimately took the reins of that film.

After the release of “Monster”, Jenkins was mostly found working on television, directing the episodes of series like “Arrested Development” Entourage”, “The Killing” and the pilot episode of  “Betrayal”. Jenkins was also nominated for Emmy Awards for directing crime drama “The Killing”.

Michelle MacLaren, who was previously signed for directing Wonder Woman, also had some great work on to her credit such as many episodes of “The X Files”, “Breaking Bad” and “Games of Thrones”. Wonder Woman would be her first silver screen film if she had continued on the project.

Actress Gal Gadot will play the role of Wonder Woman. She has played the same role in the film “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” which is expected to be released in theaters on March 25, 2016.

If Jenkins takes on this film, she will become the first female to direct a big DC Universe project for Warner Bros.
