Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice moves to March 26, 2016; Filming in Detroit

So that Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice showdown with Captain America 3 next year? Not going to happen. Warner Brothers moved the movie up from /4/6, 2016, to March 26, 2016.

The Los Angeles Times‘s reporting the change up shouldn’t do much damage since Warner Bros. announced 9 movies after Batman v. Superman premieres until 2023. That’s roughly 2-3 movies a year, which nearly matches Marvel Studios’s 11 films through 2019. And 20th Century Fox did a similar shake up with their Marvel properties last month.

The new Warner Bros. films remain untitled, even if the release dates have been released. Deadline offers the schedule and insider information, which includes two animated films and two event films.

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice – 03/25/16
Untitled DC Film – 08/05/16
Untitled DC Film – 06/23/17
Untitled DC Film – 11/17/17
Untitled DC Film – 03/23/18
Untitled Warner Animated Film – 05/25/18
Untitled DC Film – 07/27/18
Untitled WB Event Film – 11/16/18
Untitled DC Film – 04/05/19
Untitled Warner Animated Film – 05/24/19
Untitled DC Film – 06/14/19
Untitled DC Film – 04/03/20
Untitled DC Film – 06/19/20
Untitled WB Event Film – 11/20/20

If the first event film is in 2018, it would make sense to have a Wonder Woman film. Rumors of Jason Momoa as Aquaman have been floating around, so a single film on the king of the sea /4/be included as well.

Considering the $130 million budget on Batman v. Superman, the company will have to focus on some kind of connection to the DC cinematic universe, to make back the budget and not just a publicity stunt. Not to mention the Superman individual films since they’re guaranteed moneymakers for the studio.

Batman remains a bit iffy since Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale just wrapped up their run in the property. And Ben Aflleck’s Batman run remains unknown, since Batman v. Superman is his first appearance on screen.

And Warner Bros. /4/be banking on the success of Dawn of Justice as a slow entrance into the already announced Justice League set up, similar to Marvel’s Avengers franchise. Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) are founding members of the league, as well as the backbone to DC Comics.

Warner Bros. is remaining mum about to expect in the crossover film, even to Detroit journalists. News site MLive tried to get some clues but a representative refused to comment. “There will be no one available to talk about the film until closer to the release.”

That matches Michigan Motion Picture Studios’ Anthony Wenson not returning phone calls for nearly a year. Located in Pontiac, the studio will be “hub for most of the film’s special effects.” Basically, if someone is not working on set, no information will be discussed. And waiting until 2016 to officially discuss anything related does create hyped media buzz and fan anticipation.

Batman v. Superman is the largest budget in Michigan filming history, and fans are visiting all the out-of-studio filming locations to try and get a peek. Sometimes luck runs well, like with Samuel Otten.

Opening his gallery to MLive, the Upper Peninsula native snapped a series of Affleck in the Corktown neighborhood on Monday. Then Tuesday, he snagged a couple shots showing Bruce Wayne saving a little girl amid a disaster.

Admitting to being “pretty unconventional with that stuff,” Otten felt his footage and photographs were more of a fluke. “I was basically just the right person at the right time with a camera out.”

But Dark Knight fans /4/not think so since they’ve waited on pins and needles for set pics and news. And with filming continuing in downtown Detroit this week until Saturday, more snapped pics might appear online. Or so fans hope. For more Otten pictures, visit MLive for the Storify collection.

Since this is Wonder Woman’s first appearance on the big screen, Gal Gadot has a lot of eyes watching her interpretation. Pictures of Gal in Diana Prince garb will definitely be worth a high price.

Filming will continue throughout the summer, so if you miss this week, don’t worry. There’s still time for local fans to see what’s going on. Deadline Detroit offers news on filming schedules and locations. Just follow some basic rules, like don’t interrupt filming or pester the actors while they’re on set. Remember, they’re still at the office.
